England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain in Berlin on Sunday night failed to put an end to ’58 years of hurt’. England came from behind for the fourth time in a row, but this time they fell short, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring a late winner in the 86th minute to seal a 2-1 triumph. England has now been defeated in two consecutive European Championship finals, having fallen to Italy in Wembley Stadium in 2021. Spain won European championships as hosts in 1964, Austria and Switzerland in 2008, Poland and Ukraine in 2012, and Germany in 2024.
