SAYoF Appoints Georgia Blessings Apson as Focal Person for Youth-Led Food Systems Initiatives and Nutrition Pillar

The Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF) recently announced the appointment of Ms. Georgia Blessings Apson as the Focal Person for the Southern Africa Youth-Led Food Systems Initiatives and the Nutrition Pillar. In this role, Georgia will focus on youth coordination and policy engagement regarding food systems, food trade, food safety, and nutrition across the Southern African region.

SAYoF shared that Georgia’s appointment aligns strategically with the priorities set by both the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union, enhancing the role of young people in shaping sustainable food systems. Her expertise and passion for youth empowerment would be instrumental in fostering collaboration among various stakeholders to address pressing food security challenges and promote nutritious diets. It was noted that she would be working under the SAYoF Secretariat, collaborating closely with the Health Cluster on Nutrition and the Business, Agriculture, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Cluster.

SAYoF expressed confidence that Georgia would engage in meaningful dialogue and facilitate connections between youth, policymakers, and other relevant entities. They underscored that, in supporting initiatives prioritizing sustainable practices and nutrition, she would strengthen the voice of young people in these critical discussions.
