Faith Kipyegon sets a new world 1,500 meters record

On Sunday, Faith Kipyegon of Kenya broke her own world record in the women’s 1,500 meters at the Diamond League track and field tournament in Paris. Kipyegon finished in 3:49.04, breaking her previous record of 3:49.11 set in Italy the year before. Kipyegon, 30, is a two-time Olympic gold champion in the 1,500, having won in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2021. In his statement, President Ruto stated that Kipyegon’s success demonstrates the benefits of hard effort and commitment, as well as an invaluable lesson for all aspiring athletes who look up to her.
